Good/Better/Best

Catchall Trays

Often, the smallest things can make a room feel organized … or quietly chaotic. Keys tossed on the counter, loose change scattered across a dresser, a watch balanced precariously on the nightstand. A catchall tray gives all that daily debris a designated landing spot, turning the stuff you empty from your pockets into something that looks deliberate and organized. Place one near the front door, beside the bed or on your desk and suddenly the whole surface feels calmer and more considered.

Of course, since this small tray spends most of its life sitting out in plain sight, it should do more than contain clutter. The best ones function like small decorative objects, adding color, pattern or a little wit to the room—even when they’re empty. You can spend less than $30 on a handsome porcelain dish or considerably more on a French luxury piece finished with hand-applied decoration and leather. The job remains the same. The real question is how elevated you want that everyday ritual to feel. These also make great gifts for housewarming and other occasions.
